Privacy Policy

Last Update: Sept 15, 2024

Section 1: Who we are

Our website address is: https://thefelinecorner.com.

Section 2: What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact & Newsletter forms

To assist with sending you requested information, we use forms to collect and store your email address. The creator of the form plugin (WPForms) never has access to this information.

We also use OptinMonster. Their use of your data is outlined here. You may opt out of the collection of your data by unsubscribing (we will remove your data) and contacting them using the instructions on their privacy page.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. youtube, pinterest, wordpress.org, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google analytics to record information about the pages a user has seen, for example the URL of the page, time of day, device used, etc. The information that we collect is anonymized and sent to Google Analytics for analysis.

Google Analytics also collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give website owners a sense of which country, state, or city in the world their users come from (also known as “IP geolocation”).

Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to report on visitor interactions on this website. Users may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie. Learn more

In addition, Google Analytics supports an optional browser add-on that – once installed and enabled – disables measurement by Google Analytics for any site a user visits. Note that this add-on only disables Google Analytics measurement.

See this page for Google Analytics security and usage of data.

Section 3: Who we share your data with

At The Feline Corner, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. We do not sell or trade your information to third parties. However, in order to provide you with the best user experience and comply with industry standards, we may share limited data with third parties under the following circumstances:

  1. Advertising Partners: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google may collect and use your information, such as cookies or web beacons, to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other websites. This enables us to provide relevant ads to our users. You can learn more about how Google uses your data in their Privacy Policy.
  2. Analytics Providers: We work with third-party service providers, such as Google Analytics, to gather data on how our visitors use the site. This information helps us improve our content and user experience. Google Analytics may collect data including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This data is anonymized and used solely for analytical purposes.
  3. Service Providers: Occasionally, we may share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us with site functionality, security, and technical support. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only to fulfill their services to us.
  4. Legal Requirements: We may disclose your personal information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

By using our site, you consent to the use of cookies and the sharing of data as described above. You have the option to manage your data preferences through browser settings and ad settings provided by Google.

Section 4: How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Section 5: What rights you have over your data

f you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Section 6: Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
